Our place in Boone country

BV Farms sits on land in the historic Boone settlement of the Femme Osage / Matson area — country tied to Daniel Boone’s Missouri years in the late 1700s and early 1800s. Spanish-era settlement along the Femme Osage shaped this country. Nearby, visitors can see the public Daniel Boone Home — the stone house associated with his son Nathan near Defiance.

Local farm tradition holds that this property is part of that Boone-farm story; that Daniel Boone kept a two-story log cabin next to the spring house here; and that the place is connected to early wartime fortification. We share those as tradition. Published fort lists for the Matson area emphasize Daniel Morgan Boone’s settlers’ fort from the War of 1812 era — not a confirmed Civil War fort on this parcel.

Today the farm includes two historic Matson houses — old plantation-type houses associated with Charles and Richard Matson. Family history holds that the Matsons acquired the farm from Daniel Boone.

Hay

We also sell hay: small square bales at $8.50 to $10 per bale in 21-bale bundles, plus round bales.
